1st Team & Honorable Mention composition

Final teams are built from aggregated coach rank-choice voting (see How to Read Points). Position minimums are filled first; remaining slots are at-large from any position by total points.

Nominations

• Coach login required. Each head coach nominates players from their own school at Add All State.
• Team nomination quota (auto-approved slots, not per position) is set from end-of-season team rankings:
  • Rank 1–8 → 3 nominations
  • Rank 9–16 → 2 nominations
  • Rank 17+ → 1 nomination
  • Unranked teams use the committee default quota (often 3 unless changed)
• Nominations within quota are approved automatically. Additional nominees are pending until the committee records enough approval votes (approve count > reject count) for them to appear on the coach ballot.
• When nominating two or more players from your school, rank them among your nominees (1 = top choice).
• All Conference 1st Team players for the year appear in the Add All State dropdown as eligibility hints; coaches may still nominate any player from their school with complete required fields.
• The committee may close nominations; when closed, new nominees cannot be added until reopened.

Voting process

1. All State 1st Team — coaches rank candidates in multiple rounds:
   • Round 1: rank by position (Attack, Midfield, Defense, Goalie)
   • Round 2 & Final (Round 3): one combined list (all positions together)
2. Honorable Mention — after 1st Team voting closes, HM Round 1 → HM Round 2 → HM Final (each round uses one combined ranking pool). Players already on All State 1st Team are removed from the HM ballot.
3. The committee opens each round and may require an access code at the meeting. Your latest saved vote for a round is what counts.
4. Rank 1 = your top choice; higher ranks earn more points when tallied (How to Read Points).
5. Shortlist is optional and private to you—it narrows rank dropdowns when “Shortlist only” is checked; it does not change official vote totals.

Who appears on the coach ballot

• Player was nominated for the season and is approved or committee-approved (see above)
• Player is not dropped by the committee for that voting round
• For Honorable Mention rounds, player is not already on All State 1st Team
• Position on the nominee record must match the position tab (Round 1) or be valid for the combined pool

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be member of varsity lacrosse team or approved scholastic club program
• Must have played in majority of team's games for current season
• Must be a starter or significant contributor (plays over half a game on average)
• Must be of outstanding character and in good academic standing
• Players who received diploma from secondary school NOT eligible during post-graduate study
• Must earn All-State, All-County, All-District, or similar honors in current season
• Players violating school/program code of conduct may be excluded
• Sportsmanship and safe play must be considered - account for cards (Women's) or unsportsmanlike fouls (Men's)

Eligibility Criteria (Must meet ALL)

• Must be junior or senior on varsity or approved scholastic club team
• Players who received diploma from secondary school NOT eligible during post-graduate study
• Must have played in majority of team's games for current season
• Must be starter or significant contributor (plays over half a game on average)
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.7 out of 4.0 (freshman year through application deadline)
• Nominations must include official transcripts with signature from school Guidance Counselor
• Players violating school/program code of conduct may be excluded
• Sportsmanship and safe play must be considered

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be member of varsity lacrosse team or approved scholastic club program
• Must be senior on varsity or approved scholastic club team
• Must be starter or significant contributor (plays over half a game on average)
• Must be of outstanding character, in good academic standing, and demonstrate good sportsmanship
• Resume and/or Letter of Recommendation referencing years of involvement and contributions
• Letter of Recommendation referencing commitment to personal development within the game
• Can be but NOT required to be an All-American or All-Academic candidate

Eligibility Criteria

• Only available to Head Coaches for varsity or approved scholastic club teams
• Areas may only select ONE recipient per game (co-award winners NOT accepted)
• Nominees must be members in good standing within their area
• Must demonstrate outstanding sportsmanship on and off the field
• Must demonstrate excellent rapport with players, officials, and other coaches

Required Steps

1. Chair informs all head coaches minimum two weeks in advance regarding:
   • HOW: in-person, virtual, and/or electronic
   • WHEN: date/time or deadline
   • WHERE: location or platform
2. Chair sends list of awards and eligible nominees prior to meeting
3. If electronic ballot: must be open for at least one week
4. TIEs resulting in more than allotted slots MUST be broken

Strongly Recommended Process

1. Coach members rank players from 1 (highest) to X (lowest)
2. Points assigned by rank (1=X points, X=1 point). How to read points
3. Chair tallies points per nominee
4. Top X players with highest points receive honor

Tie-Breaking Methods

• Hold re-vote of coaches/committee for only tied players
• If different grades: honor goes to higher grade (senior > junior > sophomore > freshman)
• Random draw

Teams must meet ALL the following criteria to count towards awards allotment:

1. Must be high school varsity team or scholastic club team playing minimum 6 games between January and June
2. Must monitor player academic eligibility and adhere to standard eligibility criteria
3. Must be comprised solely of students who attend that school (unless governing association allows exceptions)
4. Must be team in good standing within their area
5. Must receive recognition from high school or administration in at least one of:
   • Varsity letters
   • Transportation
   • Equipment/uniform provision
   • Coach's stipend
   • Field use

Requirements

• Can ONLY be submitted by head coach or school administrator
• Must be submitted in writing by June 25th annually
• Anonymous submittals will NOT be reviewed
